Graduation Déjà vu

Thought I'd go a bit retro with this post seeing as I've waited so long to post pretty much is retro! As you may know I graduated in July of this year, but just two days later I was back at the same place *cue déjà vu* surrounded by yet more students in their mortarboards and gowns as I attended my boyfriends graduation.

I kept my look low key but smart, I really couldn't be bothered to go all out and wear a dress as I had done what felt like just hours before! I also couldn't be bothered to rack my mind and my bursting wardrobe for something to wear so bought my whole outfit the day before while getting in my weekly dose of retail therapy! Green is my favourite colour, hence why my mum bought me this beautiful emerald jewellery set as a graduation present. I styled my look around it and went for this apple green hue to compliment the beautiful emerald stones. I really loved not just the colour of this top but was also drawn to the interesting mix of fabrics (faux leather back and a lace type front) and the slit at the back.

I wanted to be cool and comfy as I almost roasted to death in my black dress and gown at my own graduation so opted for these light and airy cream floaty trousers, they were so comfy I felt like I wasn't even wearing anything! Again, after learning from my own mistakes, (wearing strappy high heels to my own graduation was a really bad idea...) I went for a closed toe block heel as I knew I'd be in them for hours. These Primark shoes were honestly the most comfortable shoes I've worn, after a full day in them my feet were right as rain! A bargain at just £14 too!

The white clutch was the only thing that wasn't new and is just a wardrobe staple really!

Hope you enjoyed the little insight into my world! And you've finally been able to put a face to the man behind all the amazing pictures on my blog! My boyfriend Christian takes most of my outfit photos for me and this blog (or me for that matter) wouldn't be able to function without him. So thank you and well done on graduating!

NEW IN: WINTER ESSENTIALS | Turtles, Snow Foxes and Pythons

Call me Dr Dolittle should you please because I have gone animal crazy this winter! My closet now features a wide array of animal themed pieces. Meet my two newest turtles, one grey one black, both from the not so far away land of Primark. (To see me strutting my stuff in another one from my turtle neck collection see my post 'A Misty Mid-afternoon'). The black one is the same as the grey one featured in the post and is tight fitting and made from thin cotton whereas the grey one pictured here is a lot thicker and much more appropriate for those cold winter days! Both were ridiculously priced at £5 each!

These trousers are also from Primark for £14, I'm really into grey this season so couldn't help myself when I saw these!

I absolutely adore my python skin slip-ons from River Island, I HAD to buy these, and not through a senseless shopaholic standpoint...I actually did. After standing for 9 hours for the fourth consecutive day I couldn't wait to chuck my not so trusty old leather boots on...and...the zip decided to break. Off I went, wincing in pain, traipsing around Oxford street looking for a damn shop that had any form of flat shoe in a size 5! Then, these RI slip-ons came to my rescue in all their python print glory! My life saved. All for just £22, not to mention the fashion brownie points gained! RESULT!

And then, well then allow me to introduce my new pet snow fox, aka my KANKEN! After months of pining over it and wishing the classic in black would be restocked somewhere! I was pleasantly surprised when my boyfriend surprised me with this seemingly endangered and rare CLASSIC BLACK KANKEN for my birthday this month! (Serious boyfriend brownie points here, well done!)

If you were wondering what the other two furry things were, the first is my devilishly naughty 6month old kitten Xeno (formally Xena before we realised it had you know...balls. WOOPS!) He's the reason I'm currently sitting here with my feet up feeling sorry for myself and my broken toe. Kittens and Christmas trees are a match made in hell, let's just leave it there.

The other furball is my Pomeranian Honey, more commonly known as my best friend in the world. For endless pictures of her, check out my personal instagram @nichm (Yes, I am one of 'those' people).

I hope you like my first NEW-IN post, there will be plenty more where this came from knowing me and my endless spending!

A Misty Mid-afternoon

Do turtles like the cold? I'm not entirely sure but what I do know is that turtle necks were made for the cold. Which is probably why I haven't stopped wearing them for almost a month now! Others call them roll necks, polo necks and even skivvys!? But the latter is just a bit odd and frankly I'd never even heard of it until I googled it... 'Polo neck' just gets confusing, do they mean a polo shirt or!? I've actually had someone ask me for a polo neck at work and they were utterly bemused when I showed them one of the high collared variation...a polo neck by my definition... not by his evidently as he exclaimed "No, no the one with the buttons!'. THAT my friend is a polo SHIRT. Jeeeez. Lastly, roll neck just makes me think of double chins quite simply. There we have it, the multiple reasons as to why I personally prefer to call them TURTLE NECKS. Because, lets face it, we all like turtles. (Well. that zombie kid likes them a little too much, I'm not that obsessed.)

I teamed my dark grey turtle neck with a few more shades of Grey (ha, see what I did there?) to channel the positively awful weather. Pieces of choice included my ombre effect jeans from Allsaints and my heeled chelsea boots also from Allsaints. The bag is past season H&M but I totally forgot I even owned it. I shielded myself from the relentless cold in my brand new faux shearling coat from Mango. It's my favourite buy of the season without a doubt! Shearling really seems to be taking off at the moment too, finally a practical trend!

I hope my rather dull post has been somewhat enjoyable, excuse me while I hibernate until next June...

Dear Santa...

Winter 2014 Wishlist

So, that time of year has come again where I compile my wishlist, aka my ever so subtle hint to all those who know me as to what I would really, really like Santa to bring me this year *wink* *wink* *wink* (BUY ME THEM NOW!) :)

I'm in need of a new pair of winter boots, my Harry Hall riding boots from last year have served me well but their time is well and truly up. I mean, what good are winter boots that let in the rain!? I think I want something a bit chunkier this season, I'm really feeling the whole androgynous thing right now. Okay, I almost always am...but who can say no to another pair of DM's!?

Despite having more coats than one person could ever possibly need (I also bought TWO just last week) I feel an uncontrollable urge to purchase this fabulously long, dark gothic number immediately! I tried it on in the Allsaints Regent Street store the other day and have been thinking about it ever since! The really sad thing is, I'm not even joking.Oh Eryn, I need you in my life. :,(

Now, if you don't know what this backpack is, I don't think I want to know you. Who doesn't want a Kanken! I want the classic one in black so I can wear it every second of everyday with everything.

I have also recently become enamored with Vivienne Westwood Accessories, especially this uber cool copper diamante armour ring. However, at £280 I'm not holding my breath for this one, I'm guessing it's probably above and beyond Santa's limit. As is this equally awesome orb watch...sadly.

I've been a good girl this year Santa, I promise.

(I've also included handy links so the elves can order it all just in time for you to deliver it for Christmas)

Best wishes,
Nicola (aged 21 and 11 months)

The Last Day of Summer

I begin writing this from the comfort of my sofa, cosied up with a blanket and sporting a woolly jumper for the first time in months. To my deep, deep dismay I present to you some photographic evidence of how I spent the last day of summer here in London.

On Monday morning I had to dig out my Barbour to brave the wind and rain on my way to work, yet just 24hrs before I was wearing sunglasses and was able to showcase my new apple green structured jacket at Brick Lane market. This jacket was an absolute steal at a mere £7 from Primark (reduced from £17)! I'd only popped in for one thing, as you do... and ended up buying two jackets, two pairs of shoes, a bag and various other bits and pieces. Initially, my mum had picked up the same jacket for herself in black and as I was rummaging for her size I came across the very last apple green one just waiting for me to sweep it off its rail and give it a loving home.

As I hadn't imagined I'd get to wear it anytime soon, I hadn't really bothered brainstorming looks or buying additional pieces to pair with it so I literally just threw something together before setting off for a busy day at the hustle bustle of Brick Lane market. As my boyfriend and I were going to dinner that evening to celebrate his birthday, I wanted to put together a versatile look appropriate for both day and night.

The only thing I actually HAD intended on buying were these nude courts with a twist and so I styled the rest of the outfit around them. I had an old shirt blouse that was exactly the same colour but wasn't exactly the right neckline to wear under the jacket and so I gave it a revamp. I folded under the collar, criss-crossed one side of the shirt over the other and pinned it and... voilà, an on trend rap-over shirt!

While galavanting, we picked up these fab Dan Hiller prints! Check out and purchase some of his cool pieces here! Speaking of cool...we had dinner at probably the coolest restaurant I've been to, Inamo. They had interactive tables which let you flick through the menu, view the chef cam, play games and even choose the 'tablecloth'. Oh, and the food wasn't bad either!

Believe it or not this look is almost entirely from good old Primark, bar my Ray bans and H&M jeans. The bag is  my mums and is also from Primark a few seasons back, as are my nude snake-skin effect flats that I wore while traipsing around during the day. They're great and go with everything!
