ALS Ice bucket challenge

So, unless you've been abducted by aliens this past week I'm sure you are all aware of the ALS/MND Ice Bucket Challenge that has gripped the online population of the world! For those of you not familiar with the craze, it involves (shock horror) a bucket, water and lots of ice...well in theory it should anyway! And... I couldn't resist the peer pressure to partake. I thought I'd get out of it but then TWO people nominated me on Monday evening. I planned to do it the next morning before work to keep within the 24hr time frame allotted BUT unfortunately, I got a migraine and didn't even make it to work let alone get a chance to do the ice bucket challenge. I think it was worth the wait though...

Initially I was in two minds about doing it because of all the negative press but when I really thought about it and the great cause behind it I saw no reason why I shouldn't also help both raise awareness and money for ALS or better known in the UK as Motor Neurone Disease.

Granted there are so many people who are taking part in the challenge without having a clue what it's all about and not even bothering to mention the charity or donating...however, as long as someone is doing both these things I see no reason why anyone should be calling people silly for doing it! Anything that raises money for charity is good if you ask me!

The easiest way to donate to MNDA for those of you in the UK is by:

  • texting ICED55 £5 (or other amount) to 70070 (only available in the UK);
  • call 01604 611860 referencing the 'Ice Bucket Challenge'.

Biker Queen

Ladies and gents, allow me to introduce THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF SPLURGING EVERY PENNY I OWN ON, PERIOD.

The Allsaints Alford leather biker.

I have been on the lookout for the biker of my life forever, but I never really liked any enough to part with the kind of cash that would buy you a really good quality investment piece...well, until last week...
Cliche I know but it was love at first sight when I saw the Alford biker at Allsaints' Covent Garden store. The shrunken lambskin leather that it's made from gives a really unique look and texture to the jacket which is what first drew me to it...BUT it just kept getting better...

(I'm sorry for interrupting the flow of my insanely cool photos and all but HOW COOL IS THIS SIGN!? - I so just wanted to open the door, I guess the whole danger part had little to no effect as I was just perplexed by how nothingness can be dangerous!?  IT CLEARLY ISN'T A VOID IF IT'S 'DANGEROUS', MR SIGN MAKER! It was probably just a massive ditch of some sort but I guess I'll never know now...)

This is the vest that inspired the post's title and um, I think it's pretty damn clever if I'm honest. Okay, I'll stop blowing my own trumpet now. However, what I will do is start talking about my favourite artist for probably the third time since I started my blog now... LAURIE LIPTON! See: 'Pelle Italiano', as I said in that equally leathery post I have a vast collection of pieces from her collection that she designed for Allsaints a couple of years back and this is just another one of many!

(Sorry I always have to upload a few funny ones. This shoot was rather sombre anyway, they were defo needed this time round! Agreed!? Agreed.)

TAH DAH! This is what you were all waiting for! You see, HOW much better did this jacket just get now you know it doubles up as a super chic gilet too! A LOT right!? (worth EVERY damn penny!)

Please find above my trio of delightful accessories. Watch by the fabulously understated and simplistic new watch brand, Larssons and Jennings. This is the limited edition all black 'UMBRA'. My sandals were a steal at a mere £14 from Primarni no less! And lastly but by no means least my beautiful Tresor Paris earrings gifted to me by a little group of leprechauns (aka my cousins in Ireland) on my recent visit to Dublin.

Anyway, I have to be up at 6am for work tomorrow and its already 1.45am here in London, so I'm OUT! I rest assured you love my new biker as much as I do.

XOXO
